Wanczyk Nursery is a locally owned and operated retail and re-wholesale garden center and nursery located in Hadley, MA since 1954. We are seeking experienced salespeople for the 2023 spring-fall season. Positions begin early to mid March 2023. 

Job Description:

Sales Associates work in a team environment with a focus on customer service and sales. You will spend most days outside welcoming customers and helping them to navigate the nursery, answering plant care questions, and giving plant choice and design suggestions.

Sales Associates, when not engaged with customers, will assist Garden Center Associates to maintain a healthy plant stock and a clean, organized, and safe Garden Center. It is expected that all Garden Center Staff will communicate with each other at the beginning of each day and throughout their shifts to divide work amongst each other and ensure that all daily tasks are completed in a timely manner.

 

Sales Associates are expected to have at least basic knowledge of landscape plants, their use, and care and are expected to continue to grow within their position to acquire and retain knowledge of the plant material and inventory available at the nursery. Sales Associates will also become proficient in company processes including POS operation, general shipping/receiving practices, email communications, message taking, etc.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Customer Service & Sales

• Attend to customer needs and questions

• Assist with plant recommendations, plant choice, and share knowledge with customers

• POS Operation including Delivery & Installation Processes

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Water, weed, prune, and maintain the health of plant inventory

• General cleaning and organizing of nursery/retail space

• Assist in unloading of deliveries

• Conduct POS sales transactions

• Assist with maintenance of property gardens

• Repot and propagate plant stock

 

Necessary Skills/Qualifications:
• Knowledge of landscape plants and care

• Must be able to lift 40 lbs.

• Must be available 2-5 days a week including 1 weekend day

• One Year+ nursery, landscaping, horticultural training, or equivalent experience is preferred

• Preparedness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Job Description:

Garden Center Associates work in a team environment to maintain a healthy plant stock and a clean, organized, and safe Garden Center. It is expected that all Garden Center Staff will communicate with each other at the beginning of each day and throughout their shift to divide work amongst each other and ensure that all daily tasks are completed in a timely manner.

Garden Center Associate

Wanczyk Nursery is a locally owned and operated retail and re-wholesale nursery and grower located in Hadley, MA since 1954. We are seeking experienced Installation Crew members for the Spring-Fall 2023 season. Positions will begin early to mid April depending on weather.

 

Opportunity:

As a growing business, Wanczyk Nursery is excited to broaden the scope of services we provide to our customers and community. It is our immediate goal that the installation foreperson and crew members will work hand in hand with our retail division to help us continue providing a small-scale planting service to retail customers who purchase plants from the nursery.

 

There is a huge demand for us to deliver and install the plants we grow and sell. We are excited to extend these services to our customers. This will be our second season doing small installations of (on average) 1-10 trees/shrubs per planting. We want to make sure that as we grow, we are growing thoughtfully and effectively to provide more services while maintaining a great reputation for our beautiful and healthy plants and our professional and knowledgeable team.

 

It is our goal to build a team that will help us grow from offering these small-scale plantings to providing full scale landscape services including existing landscape removal, landscape design, hardscaping, garden maintenance and more. We are seeking the right person/people who will be able to grow with us from season to season and who will become the leaders of the landscaping branch of Wanczyk Nursery.

Installation Foreperson & Crew Members

Job Requirements:

• Knowledge of plants, their care, and growing preferences.

• Landscape crew experience & horticultural training or equivalent experience

• Leadership experience

• Knowledge of tools and equipment

• Valid driver’s license

Job Description: Installation Crew Member

Installation Crew Members will report directly to the Installation Foreperson and will work as a member of a small team to travel to various locations to install trees and shrubs purchased from the nursery.

 

Installation Crew Members will have basic knowledge of landscape plants and their planting requirements and preferences, plant care, and pest prevention and treatment.

 

Crew Members will take direction from the Installation Foreperson but should also be ready to  initiate and complete tasks, using the Foreperson as a resource for guidance. 

Job Description: Installation Foreperson

The Installation Foreperson will be a responsible, self-motivated individual who will instruct and oversee the Installation Crew during on-location plantings. 

 

The Installation Foreperson will manage all aspects of the installation of plant material at private residences and businesses, including monitoring, and training workers, supervising the use of equipment, ensuring safety guidelines and protocols are followed, providing design and care recommendations as necessary, maintaining cleanliness and care of vehicles and machinery, and maintaining a professional atmosphere which always represents Wanczyk Nursery in a positive light.

 

The Installation Foreperson should have sound knowledge of landscape plants and their planting requirements and preferences, plant care, and pest prevention and treatment. Foreperson candidates will be able to both follow and provide direction, be a keen problem-solver, possess excellent communication skills, and be a source of knowledge to crew members and customers.
