A NOTE FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOURS
At Wanczyk Nursery, our relationship with this community has always been rooted in trust —and that means being honest with you, even when the news isn’t simple.
This season, we’ve updated our plant warranty to cover in-season purchases only: 100% of purchase price for trees and shrubs that fail before November 1st.
We want to share why.
Gardening in New England has always asked something of us — patience, attentiveness, a willingness to work with nature rather than against it. But the conditions our plants face today have shifted in ways that are harder to navigate than anything we’ve seen in our years of growing. Droughts arrive without warning and linger far longer than they once did. Temperature swings — from unseasonable warmth to hard early and late-season freezes — catch plants off-guard at their most vulnerable moments. Persistent winds strip moisture before roots can take hold. Winters with reduced snow cover leave root systems exposed to conditions they were never meant to endure. And pest and disease pressure has intensified, with new threats arriving earlier and staying longer each season.
These forces are beyond anyone’s control — ours or yours. But they make it genuinely difficult to stand behind a plant’s survival through a full calendar year, particularly for plantings that go in late in the season with little time to establish before winter.
We’ve absorbed these risks for as long as we responsibly could, and this wasn’t a decision we made lightly. What we can promise is that our commitment to your success as a gardener hasn’t changed one bit.
Our in-season warranty still gives you full coverage through the growing season — the period when we’re best able to assess plant health, offer guidance, and help you course-correct if something isn’t right. And as always, if you ever notice a plant struggling, please reach out to us early. That’s the best chance we have — together — to help it thrive.
Thank you for your trust, your loyalty, and for supporting our small, locally owned business.
With gratitude,
The Wanczyk Family & Team
